When other blossoms fade in May, azalea blossoms begin to flourish. The 2015 Mount Tiantai Rhododendron Fortunei Festival will raise the curtain on May 9. Rhododendron Fortunei grows in Huading National Forest Park, a park full of ancient trees and grotesque flowers. A Rhododendron Fortunei tree is 45 meters, even 89 meters in height. The branches and trunks are as thick as the mouth of bowl. “The trunk is like that of a pine tree. The flowers look like peonies.” The average age of trees is 200 years. The oldest tree is 1,000 years old. These trees are truly a “miracle in China”. The Rhododendron Fortunei forest in Huading National Forest Park is a magnificent view. It extends to hundreds or thousands of Mu on the high mountain one thousand meters above sea level. When the azalea flowers blossom in spring, the entire mountain would be covered by colorful flowers. They are as bright as the rosy clouds in the sky. It’s really a wonderful view.
