Tingpang Uprising Museum

Tingpang Uprising Museum, formerly Tingshan Elementary School, is located in Yangjia Village, four kilometers north to Sanmen County. Led by Communist Party of China, peasants in Tingpang rose up to establish the first Soviet regime in Zhejiang in 1928. Built during Tongzhi period of the Qing Dynasty, the museum consists of two two-tiered timber and brick buildings with eleven rooms, covering an area of over 2,000 square meters. The exhibition hall is over 250 square meters.

 

In 1981, it was recognized as a county level cultural relic. Tingpang Uprising Memorial was set up in 1988. In April 1993, Tingpang Uprising Museum was built on the site of Tingshan Elementary School with funds allocated by the county government and open to the public. In 1995, it was named Taizhou Patriotism Education Base by Taizhou Communist Party Committee and Zhejiang Patriotism Education Base by Zhejiang Communist Party Committee in 1996. In 1997, it was recognized by Zhejiang government as a provincial cultural relic. Supported by the Publicity Department of Zhejiang Party Committee, Zhejiang Cultural Relics Bureau and the society, it was renovated and rearranged by Sanmen County Party Committee and government in 2001 to celebrate the 80 anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China.

 

The museum has received over 190,000 visitors over the past decade since its opening, spreading significant patriotism education to people from across Zhejiang.
