Taozhu Military Ancient City, one of the 41 guard cities built on the southeast coast of Zhejiang at that time to defend against Japanese invaders in the Ming Dynasty, is the best reserved “anti-Japanese Invaders” ancient city in China.

The “13 Islets in Taojiang River”, a scenic spot in Taozhu Town, Linhai, is located to the west of the East China Sea and the south of Sanmen. It is only 30km away from the southern Taizhou downtown. As a key part of both the Provincial Landscape and Famous Scenery in Taozhu and the National Geopark in Linhai, the scenic spot is a complex of idyllic scenery, volcano remains, fantastic rocks and numerous caves. It has the following 10 highlights: Taojiang Landscape, Peacock Pecking Green, Volcano Remains, Intertwined Dragon at Sea, The General’s Relique, Beauty at Luke Restaurant, Forest-like Peaks along the Great Wall, Skyscraping Stone Columns, Mountains of Sweet Oranges and Picturesque Islets in Taojiang River.

The “13 Islets in Taojiang River” got its name as the farmland was divided by Taojiang River into 13 islets in different shapes and sizes. The scattered “13 islets” cover a total area of over 600 mu, with the large one of over 80 mu and the small one of only half a mu. The “13 islets” constitute a typical wetland characterized by 50% land and 50% water. A lot of peach trees (Tao in Chinese pinyin) were originally planted on the islets, so the town was also named Taozhu Town. As one of the most beautiful pastoral landscapes in China, the “13 Islets in Taojiang River” scenic spot boasts its clear water, green farmland, red hills, black shadow and capricious colors.
