Take a three-day trip in Jiaojiang/ Dachen Island
Dachen Island is a famous legendary island, located in the north of Jiaojiang District, Taizhou City, Zhejiang Province, southeast of Taizhou Bay and south central Taizhou islands. There are undulating hills, natural landscapes and unique cuture landscape on the island. It’s a great place to go on holiday, have a leisure sightseeing and visit the heritages.
Dachen Island is a national Class I fishing port, a provincial-level forest park and a provincial fishing site. The sea area around the island is No. 2 fishing ground of Zhejiang Province. During the fishing season, there are thousands of boats around the island, bristled with masts. At night, masses of lights on fishing boats are so magnificent. It’s known as “A Pearl on the East Sea”.
The climate is very pleasant on the island with splendid landscapes, abundant seafood and superior natural conditions, especially suitable for the tourists to “visit the island, see the landscape, fish the marine fish, eat the seafood and play with the sea”. Summer and autumn are two golden seasons for visiting the island. The forest coverage rate on the island reaches 56% and annual mean temperature reaches 16.7° which is typical subtropical climate, warm in winter and cool in summer. Due to the long-term effects of tides, ocean currents, air currents and marine life, many marine wonders are created such as Jiawu Rock known as “The Largest Potted Landscape in East Sea”, Maoyu Beach with blue water and fine sands, and Wushatou Seaside Resort as well as picturesque Pingfeng Mountain, Langtong Gate, Gaoli, and Xiayu Dragon Cave, etc.
Dachen Island has a mystical history. The war ruins such as Dachen Island pillbox, water dungeon, trenches and tunnels, etc. are the historic evidences of Yijiangshan War’s old battlefield. The tales of young land reclamation team on Dachen Island and General Secretary Hu Yaobang who come here on an investigation made the island become famous both in China and abroad.
Dachen Island and Yijiangshan Island also have rich and profound culture landscape. There are lots of war ruins left by the Yijiangshan Island War in 1955, historical sites and monuments left by the young land reclamation team, Hu Yaobang Memorial Room and Wind Power Generators, etc., as well as ancient cultural sites and Religious Temples of Sea Gods, such as Tianhou Palace and Fisherman’s Temple, etc.
D1 Pick up the tour group in Jiaojiang, sightsee the beautiful Huangyan scenic spots, viewing the ten spots: Huangyan Nostalgia, Rafting in the Mountain, Immortal Wall Paintings, Stones of Nature, Imperial Dreams, Falls View, Remains of Hills and Waters, Wonder of Stone Beam, Sounds of Heaven, and Vintage Citrus Fragrance. You can also enjoy the fun of boating in the cave (at your own expense), visit the Memorial Museum of Liberation of Yijiangshan Island and go shopping at Haimen Old Street. For dinner, you can have distinctive seafood in Taizhou (extra fees) and then accommodate in Jiaojiang.
D2 After breakfast, go to No. 7 wharf and take the boat at 8 am to Dachen Island. Get a distant view of Yijiangshan Island during the trip (depending on the weather conditions). It will take about 2 hours to get to Dachen Island and visit Jiawu Rock and Meiling Pavilion. Then dabble in the water at the beach of Langtong Gate (There was tens of meters of surge here before, which created a Guinness World Record) and listen to the sound of waves. Visit the Land Reclamation Tablet. And return to Jiaojiang by boat at around 3 pm.
D3 After breakfast, visit Zhongtai Sea World (100/50 for 2 hours) and Wu Zixiong Glass Carving Art Museum. Then go back home.
