Three kilometers to the north of the county, the 2.4-square-meter attraction was built in 598, originally named Tiantai Temple. It was listed as one of the ten famous temples in the region south of Yangtze River during the Southern Song Dynasty. The existing architecture was renovated under the command of Yongzheng, one of the Emperors of the Qing Dynasty in 1734. The total area of the temple is 73,000 square meters and its 8,000 rooms are arranged at five axes up along the hill, featuring both the symmetry of Buddhist architecture and flexible style. Compared with other famous temples, Guoqing Temple boasts more local natural and cultural attractions.
