
Haimen Old Street is located between East Zhongshan Road and Dongsheng Street, with a distance of 225m from the south to the north. Formerly known as Beida Street, Xia Street and North Xinjiao Street, it’s a street with harbor characteristics developed from the Kangxi reign in the Qing Dynasty to the Republc of China. As a typical street in Old Haimen Town, it attracts many antiquers, art lovers, rare treasures seekers and tourists.
Haimen Old Street was officially open on December 28, 2005, with a total investment of RMB80 million. Designed by Design Institute of Tongji University, in the principle of “Repairing the Old by Maintaining Its Original Characteristics”, ancient-style commercial buildings were reproduced, with white walls and gray tiles, red pearls, ancient woods and railings. The architectural style is classical, simple and modernistic.
