Whether a public complaint or a report is handled diligently and in compliance with standards will now be measured against a firmer "benchmark". Recently, the Taizhou Municipal Market Supervision Administration became the first in Zhejiang to issue the Measures for Evaluating and Reviewing the Handling of Complaints and Reports, tightening oversight over complaint and report handling and giving the public greater confidence and peace of mind in safeguarding their rights.
In the past, the handling of public complaints and reports suffered from lax oversight. The new measures first streamline the oversight system, with departments responsible for operations, case handling, and legal affairs working in coordination to conduct regular spot checks and verifications of how grassroots appeals are handled, focusing on key links of high public concern such as report verification, dispute mediation, and case disposal. All counties (cities and districts) carry out multiple rounds of special inspections each year, combining random spot checks with targeted supervision to comprehensively identify weaknesses and eliminate perfunctory or careless case closure.
