On March 31, Shen Mingquan, Secretary of the Taizhou Municipal Party Committee, met with Erik Solheim, former United Nations Under-Secretary-General, and his delegation. Taizhou municipal leaders Pan Junming, Chen Tingchen, and Ye Lingjun attended the meeting.

On behalf of the Taizhou Municipal Party Committee and the Taizhou Municipal Government, Shen Mingquan welcomed Erik Solheim and his delegation. He stated that in recent years, Taizhou has been deeply studying and implementing Xi Jinping Thought on Ecological Civilization. With the goal of becoming a model city for practicing the concept that Lucid Waters and Lush Mountains Are Invaluable Assets, Taizhou has leveraged its abundant natural resources and relatively well-developed renewable resource recycling system to actively explore clean energy and resource recycling models with local characteristics. The city strives to achieve green development that ensures economic growth, prosperity, and ecological well-being. He expressed hope that Erik Solheim and his delegation would further promote Taizhou’s vivid practices in green development and contribute to the international discourse on applying the Lucid Waters and Lush Mountains Are Invaluable Assets concept to marine governance, creating a global window into China’s marine ecological conservation efforts.

Erik Solheim remarked that this year marks the 20th anniversary of the Lucid Waters and Lush Mountains Are Invaluable Assets concept, which is a wise and impactful philosophy that requires broader adoption. He emphasized that ecological and environmental challenges are global concerns and praised Zhejiang’s outstanding performance in environmental governance. He expressed his pleasure in visiting Zhejiang and Taizhou to film a documentary on the practice of "Blue Circle" marine plastic pollution control program. Through the television broadcast of this documentary, he hopes to mobilize all sectors of society to actively embrace the green development philosophy and contribute to better environmental protection.
