Kang Youwei (1857-1927), with his former name as Zuyi, style name as Guangsha, and pseudonym as Changsu, was born in Nanhai, Guangdong (now Foshan). He is a leader of the Reform Movement of the Bourgeoisie in modern times.

In February of the 13th year of the Republic of China (1924), Kang Youwei came to Taizhou and, accompanied by Qu Yingguan in Linhai, visited Tiantai Moutain through Dashi and Baibu. When he was approaching the County seat, Zhang Chi, the former senate chairman of Zhejiang Province met him at the suburb and guided him to Zhang’s house in E Park. Accompanied by Zhang Chi, Kang Youwei visited Guoqing, Gaoming, Shiliang, Tongbai and Taoyuan. The beautiful landscape attracted him so much so that he lingered on and forgot to go home. He had inscription and poems like:

- “Gaoming Lecture Temple” on the door lintel in Gaoming Temple;
- Four characters of “Shi Liang Fei Pu (stone beam waterfall)” on the stone bridge;
- Couplet on pillar of “thousand-year pine surrounding the house, eight-cave covered by jadestones” on Qiongtai Temple, with characters of “Qiongtai” and “Shuangque” on the desk.

Kang Youwei was also a famous poet with two pieces of good writings, which made Tiantai Mountain more splendid with profound meanings and philosophy, as well as vigorous touches and fine strokes.
