On August 22, the "New Mingshou 66," fully loaded with a full ship of solar components, plastic products, aluminum alloy wheels, and other high-quality products from Taizhou, departed from the Damaiyu Port Area of Taizhou Port and will arrive at Nagoya Port in Japan in five days.

This marks the first voyage since the official opening of the "Damaiyu Port Area of Taizhou Port" direct shipping route. With this, the number of international and domestic routes from the Damaiyu Port Area of Taizhou Port has expanded to 18.

"With the opening of this route, Taizhou enterprises no longer need to transport export goods via feeder lines or land routes to Ningbo or Shanghai ports for export, reducing transportation costs by an average of 10% per container," explained Chen Shuwei, general manager of Zhejiang Damaiyu Port Co., Ltd. As early as 2023, the Damaiyu Port Area had already opened a shipping route to Japan, but the previously opened route was a five-port loop in Japan, requiring stops at five Japanese ports during the voyage. This new route, however, can directly reach the Kanto region of Japan, making logistics more efficient and convenient.

It is reported that the "Damaiyu Port Area of Taizhou Port" direct shipping route is currently planned to operate once every two weeks, with more trips to be arranged based on the volume of goods.

Since the beginning of this year, the Damaiyu Port Area of Taizhou Port has seen significant improvements in route transportation and container capacity supply. To further enhance the port's competitiveness, the port area has optimized the "port-to-door" logistics model, effectively improving logistics efficiency. In the first half of this year, the port area handled a total container throughput of 289,400 TEUs, with an expected annual container throughput of 550,000 TEUs.

To ensure the smooth operation of the new route, Taizhou Customs of the People’s Republic of China has formulated a supervision plan, designed personalized customs clearance procedures for direct shipping cargo, provided enterprises with one-on-one guidance services in areas such as pre-customs registration, dynamic management of transport tools, and cargo declaration. Additionally, they have achieved information sharing and coordinated operations with port joint inspection units and enterprises, ensuring that direct shipping cargo is "well-managed and quickly cleared," helping the Damaiyu Port Area become a logistics hub port in southeastern Zhejiang.
