Tsuruga City, located in Fukui-ken in central Japan, is the first international sister city of Taizhou. 

Tsuruga has a long history and is one of the important port cities in Japan. As early as the Nara Era, Tsuruga Port imported rice, soybeans and silk from all over the world. It is an important gateway for Japan to access the world. Industries of Tsuruga are mainly offshore aquaculture and aquatic processing industry, with chemical fiber, electrical appliances, wood products, cement and other manufacturing industries developed simultaneously. Tsuruga is dedicated to introducing a modern industrial system of port economy.Taizhou and Tsuruga have established connection since 1996, and the two cities officially became sister cities in 2001. Taizhou Party Committees and Governments at any time have attached great importance to the work of sister cities, actively planned and actively participated in friendly exchanges between the two cities over the past 20 years. At the same time, non-governmental exchanges have flourished, expanding exchanges in culture, education, sports and other fields, especially in deepening youth exchanges, which has effectively promoted connection between the people of the two cities and established a deep friendship and good trust relationship. On the 20th anniversary of the relationship establishment between the two cities, “Exhibition for the 20th Anniversary of Establishment of Sister Cities between Taizhou in China and Tsuruga in Japan♂” was held in order to make a systematic review of the friendly exchanges between the two cities, and express heartfelt thanks to the leaders at all levels, friends from all walks of life and the general public who have actively participated in promoting friendly development of the two cities! For 20 years of hardships and connections, 20 years of cooperation and development. At a new starting point, we wish the friendship between the Chinese and Japanese people will always be strong and close, and wish the two cities to jointly write a new chapter of economic and social prosperity and development!
