Raj Chouhan, Councilman of British Columbia Province, Canada, and Ching Chang, Councilman of Burnaby City, Canada, made a visit to Taizhou on Jan. 5th. A letter of intent for being cities of friendly exchanges between Taizhou and Burnaby City was signed. Ye Adong, Deputy Mayor of Taizhou City, attended the signing ceremony and made an address.
In the core area of the Greater Vancouver Region and covering an area of about 98.6 square kilometers, Burnaby was founded in 1892 and grew into an independent administrative city in 1992, and then became the third largest metropolis in B.C. Province with more than 0.2 million population, thanks to its unique location connecting Fraser Valley and other cities of B.C. Province. As the most vigorous city with active business in B.C. Province, Burnaby owns the largest commercial shopping center in B.C. Province, and plenty of high-tech industrial zones gathering both Canadian and international top companies. In July 2009, Burnaby was elected as one of the Best-Run Cities in Canada by Maclean, the most influential Canadian magazine.
Raj Chouhan and his delegation, as the first foreign guests to Taizhou during the Chinese New Year, received a warm welcome from Ye, who briefed them on the basic information of Taizhou and hoped to see a closer communication and cooperation between both sides and a long-lasting friendship for mutual benefits and development. Raj Chouhan expressed his gratefulness for Taizhou’s warm welcome and expected more people from Taizhou to make investments in Canada.
